Peppermint Essential Oil
Peppermint Essential Oil is distilled from the leaves of the peppermint plant (Mentha × piperita), a hybrid of watermint and spearmint, native to Europe and the Middle East but now cultivated worldwide. Known for its sharp, cool, and minty aroma, peppermint oil is one of the most widely used essential oils for its refreshing and invigorating properties.
Peppermint essential oil contains menthol and menthone, the active compounds that give it its characteristic cooling sensation and therapeutic benefits. It is commonly used in aromatherapy to enhance focus, ease tension headaches, and support respiratory comfort. When diluted and applied topically, it provides a cooling effect that can soothe muscle aches, joint stiffness, or skin discomfort.
Note: Peppermint oil is highly concentrated and should always be diluted before use on the skin, as it may cause irritation in sensitive individuals. It should be avoided near the eyes, on young children, and around pets. Ingestion is not recommended unless under professional supervision.
